Celtic Under 18s certainly had plenty to be celebrate after their win on Saturday against Rangiora High School. For the Team it ended 18 weeks of hard fought rugby games, to take out the Ellesmere/North-Canterbury/Mid-Canterbury Combined Competition.
With 10 Teams in the competition they trailed the first round winners Amberley by 1 point. The Celtic Team maintained their winning streak and when they played Amberley for the second time in the fourth game of round two it was do or die. They came out the victors in this encounter and it put the Celts 3 points in front. For the next 5 weeks the pressure was on to maintain that lead, with the Amberley team always right behind them. They succeeded in their efforts and ended up the winners. With 18 games under the belts they had 17 wins 1 loss, 397 points for and only 89 points against.
Coaches Paul Hurley Danny Hurley and Paul Morrison are rightfully proud of their team and now look forward to defending the KEVIN DWYER memorial against Mid-Canterbury Country next Saturday
