Tony Purpura who played club rugby for Ashburton Celtic last season has been selected for the USA rugby
team. Tony is now propping the Boston Rugby Club pack and following two successful training camps played in the USA v Russia game on 5th June, won by the States 39-22.
Purpura’s stated aim is to return to New Zealand for RWC2011
representing the United States. He credits his time in Mid Canterbury,
with quality coaching and a strong rugby environment, for some of his
recent success.
