To start off, I’d like to give a huge thanks to our sponsors this year. We were able to purchase new tracksuits, new uniforms and new gear for the teams to use. Without the support and help of our sponsors this would be never have been achieved.
We had Riverside Vets sponsoring the Celtic A team, Robbie’s Bar and Bistro sponsored the Celtic B team and Celtic C was sponsored by Robilliards Gemtime Jewellers.
A big thank you to these sponsors and the rest of our sponsors;
Allenton Meat Centre, Ashburton Signs and Graphics, Braden Nelson Builders, Russell, Moon and Fail, Summerfield Builders, Mortgage Solutions and Summerfield Plumbing.
It’s always great to see the local businesses getting out there and supporting the teams, so get out there and support them the way they have supported us.
The netball season has come to an end and while not all the results went as we would have liked, all the girls can be proud of their efforts this season. As a club we had a fantastic number of teams making the semis, with Riverside Vets Celtic A, Robbie’s Bar and Bistro Celtic B, Robilliards Gemtime Celtic C and Celtic Social all making the semi finals. It was always going to be a tough challenge for the teams to make it into the final, as all the teams qualified fourth, which meant they had to defeat the top qualifier to make it through to the finals.
Riverside Vets Celtic A had to take down Hampsted A while Robbie’s Bar and Bistro Celtic B had to take on Hampsted B and Robilliards Gemtime Celtic C had to beat Hampsted Blue. All the games were very close with only a few goals in it but it was not to be Celtics day; however that was not the end of the road for the girls as last weekend they were playing off for 3rd and 4th.
There was a bright note on the semi-finals day with Celtic Social beating their opposition to set up a final showdown with Allenton Social. The final was played in the weekend and I’m proud to say the Celtic Social team took out the social grade with a big win.
The rest of the results had Riverside Vets Celtic A in a hard battle against Rakaia A with the final score going Rakaia’s way.
Robbie’s Bar and Bistro Celtic B had a loss to College B while Robilliards Gemtime Celtic C had a very narrow loss to Hampsted Zees.
Celtic D and Celtic E had their last games on semi final day with a great performance from the Dragons to secure 5th place. Many thanks to the support from the sideline.
Celtic E couldn’t quite finish their season on a high but they should be very proud of the way they have come along this season.
Thanks to all the players, coaches, supporters and sponsors who have stepped up this year to make such a great season. Without your support it would make the committees job that much more difficult and it is much appreciated.
The ball and prize giving is this weekend which always makes for a great night so make sure you’ve got your tickets and we’ll see you all again next season!
